This 1896 advertising poster for Absinthe Robette, designed by the Belgian posterist Privat-Livemount, is perhaps the most iconic image of the Belle Époque. The beautiful semi-naked woman doesn't just look in awe at a glass of absinthe; she looks through and past the glass, into the new era that the curious green drink symbolized.
